About Baclaran

Baclaran, formerly written Bacladan, is a barangay (neighborhood district) in the northern part of Paraaque City, Metro Manila, Philippines. It is also known to be near the cities of Paraaque and Pasay's boundaries. Because of its proximity to the sea, the location was given the name "baklad" after a type of fishing equipment. Baklad is a rattan fence that surrounds the fish to keep them safe until they are ready to be sold. Because so many of these baklads were gathered along the beach, the area became known as "Bakladan." The term was corrupted and became "baclaran."
